Exaprint and the Environment //We are committed to measuring and mitigating our impacts

Practical actions are implemented in the Exaprint workshops

REDUCTION OF WASTE AT SOURCE
• 200 litre drums for ink (reducing packaging waste with less loss of product and waste collections)
• Automatic delivery of ink into the ducts on press
• Using washable reusable cloths on the presses
• Using chemistry free or very low chemistry CTP devices

99% OF WASTE DIVERTED FROM LANDFILL
• Double hull tank for liquid waste (machine wash up solution, developer)
• All dry waste separated into individual waste streams for collection (cardboard, plastics, metal, wood)
• Aerosol containers (antistatic spray), filters, oil and batteries, sealed containers for specific waste (rags, plastics and used ink cans ...)
• Compactors are used for paper waste and offcuts, to reduce the number of required collections
• Computer equipment recycling
• No chlorinated products
• Toners sent for recycling

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE
• Staff awareness towards energy savings
• Rigorous management of energy usage
• Ensuring our supply chain operate an ISO14001 Environmental Management Program
• Adherence to the principles of the Global Compact

EFFECTIVE WASTE MANAGEMENT
• Waste minimisation at source
• Recycling of waste paper
• Automatic distribution of ink machine (reduction packaging waste)
• Use of process chemistry free CTP (no liquid waste)
• Use cloths rental machine washable and reusable
• Sorting and recycling waste
• Treatment of waste in approved courses
• Secure storage of hazardous liquids to prevent accidental pollution

RESPONSIBLE PURCHASING
• Substitution of toxic by nontoxic products
• Referencing responsible suppliers
• Consideration of environmental performance when buying equipment
• Removal of isopropyl alcohol (most shops work with 0% alcohol)
• Use vegetable-based inks
• Choice of consumables according to their environmental impact

USE OF ENERGY
• Recovery of heat generated by certain technical equipment for heating workshops
• Heating and Cooling provided by heat pumps
• Taking into account the energy performance of machinery during investment decisions
• Planning schedules to facilitate the implementation of carpooling
• Staff awareness to energy savings
